About Rachel

Hi! I’m Rachel, the founder of The Up and Up – a newsletter about young voters – and and a consultant on youth civic engagement and media strategy. A member of Generation Z myself, I'm laser-focused on the cohort’s civic attitude and have convened listening sessions with hundreds of young people across the country.

My written work has been featured in The New York Times, CNN, The Free Press, Glamour, POLITICO Magazine, Teen Vogue, Vogue, Elle, Cosmo, and Bustle. And my on-air analysis has been featured on CNN, C-SPAN, The Hill TV, NY-1, WNYC Public Radio, and NPR/WBUR.

Since 2018, I've covered youth movements around the world and wrote my senior thesis at Harvard College on the role of social media in youth-led organizing between 2010 and 2020. Previously, I was an associate writer on the CNN Politics team covering young voters, campaigns and breaking news. As the first writer for CNN Politics dedicated to the youth beat, I wrote about the first members of Gen Z to launch campaigns for Congress, how TikTok became a political battleground, and the youth mental health crisis following the Covid-19 pandemic.
